Margaret Peth, MPA was raised in Macon, GA. She completed her masters at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington, and focused her masters capstone project on the impact of redlining in Macon. She is passionate about working to create a community that provide safety, dignity, and well being for all residents.
Margaret's presentation will examine the history of redlining and how redlining shaped Macon. Redlining and discriminatory lending practices were officially outlawed in 1968, but the impact of these practices is still visible throughout our community and our nation at large. Considered the “most redlined city in the United States” the legacy of redlining in Macon is still visible today.
